PROTECT TREES IN YOUR COMMUNITIES, COUNCIL BOSS URGES OJOKORO RESIDENTS

Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID), the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, has urged residents of the Council to always protect tress planted in their communities and nurture them to full grown trees for their own benefits.

The Council boss said this in a keynote address delivered on his behalf by the Vice, Hon. Oladipupo Coker at the year 2022 edition of the annual tree planting exercise in Lagos state themed “IN HARMONY WITH NATURE”.

The annual tree planting exercise which was held simultaneously in all the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos state took place at Ogunmola Alara street in Ojokoro LCDA.

Hon. Tijani praised the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining the yearly exercise, which was initiated by the former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).

He stressed the significance of tree planting, which he said is essential for life as it also beautifies the environment.

“It has become imperative to always protect and preserve every tree planted in our environment, for the benefits of mankind, considering the usefulness and importance of trees” he concluded.

The general manager of LASPARK, Mrs. Adetoun Ibilola Popoola, who was represented at the occasion by Mr. Shobamowo Emmanuel, applauded the Council Chairman’s effort towards ensuring a habitable environment for Ojokoro residents.

“As we forge a 21st century architecture of environmental health that harmonizes natural resources, the government is expected to lead the process, success will depend on concerted efforts by all stakeholders” Mr. Shobamowo said in a speech he delivered on behalf of the Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

The Director of environmental services in Ojokoro LCDA, Sanitarian Falade Idayat, educated members of the community on techniques of tree planting, its benefits and preservation of life span of the trees planted.

In the same vain, the Council Manager, Mr. Adeyemi Adebola appreciated the people for supporting the Council Chairman since the inception of his administration.

In his vote of thanks, Hon. Jamiu Odebiyi the Supervisor for the Environment, appreciated members of the community for supporting the annual tree planting exercise.

Present at the event are the Chairman of APC in Ojokoro LCDA, Hon.Jelili Oseni; CDC General Secretary, Alhaji Kazeem; Chairman, Ojokoro League of Imams, Alhaji Ambali Lawal; Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)in Ojokoro LCDA, Rev C.G Coker; Leader of Ojokoro Legislative Council, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle, Councillors, Supervisors, management staff and other major stakeholders in Ojokoro LCDA.
