OJOKORO LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREA PRESENTS 2024 BUDGET OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT RENEWED HOPE INTEGRATION TO THE LEGISLATIVE ARM

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. Hammed Idowu.D. Tijani today presents appropriation bill for 2024 to the Council Legislative Arm themed ” Budget of Local Government Renewed Hope Integration” for better improvement of infrastructural and developmental needs of the communities and wards within the LCDA.

During the Chairman speech, Hon Tijani explained that the basis of the presented budget was formed out of the needs assessment request presented by various representatives at the last interactive forum during the Stakeholders meeting held at the secretariat. The proposed budget has been drafted to incorporate and intensify focus on social inclusion, gender equality and youth development, so as to ensure every resident need is considered and caterered for irrespective of religious beliefs, tribe, or political affiliation making this model alligns with the Lagos State Government THEME + Agenda.

The proposed budget equally seeks to improve the living standard of the people, ensure value for money, greater transparency and accountability on completion of all on_ going projects.

HID, further expresses, how important it is to consider the people’s need by giving detailed accounts of his stewardship which covers every sector of human endeavor tourched and affected positively by his Administration in the year 2023.

Administratively, 14 Official vehicles were purchased for the Executives to facilitate effectiveness of their service delivery. Vehicles of the Security Agencies working within the LCDA, such as the Nigerian Police, Department of State Security ( DSS) and the Lagos State Neighborhood Security Corps(LNSC) had been fuelled consistently as a means of subsidy palliative and aid to security stability. Also, there was provision and installation of 50 Nos if 60watts solar led street/ security light , painting of the buildings within the secretariat, renovation of dilapidated roof and ceilings of revenue offices , supply of office furniture and purchase of 23 seater coaster bus for staff.

The immense infrastructural development such as construction and rehabilitation of roads, drainages, culverts, grading of adjoining roads have been done to aid vehicular movements , save man_ hour loss, and give easy accessibility to the business world. Provision of Solar Street Lights to various communities can not but be mentioned.

Environmental health of our people is of outmost importance to us hence we had regularly carried out desilting and carted away refuse in drainages as well as monitored and supervised PSP activities through our Environmental Officers for effective and efficient waste disposal, quarterly procurement of chemicals had been provided for decontamination and fumigation exercises essentially for diseases control.

Under human health, we had embarked on free eye screening and provided free eye glasses for those affected, screening was done for those affected by High blood pressure and increased blood sugar level , free immunization had been given to Children to kick out polio permanently out of the country as we have joined the Nation to fight against this health menace. Primary Health care centres are opened and manned by qualified medical personnel for perfect health care services, We had constantly sensitized and mobilised people through various health programs on prevention of terminal diseases, breast cancer, Lassa fever, HIV/ AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis.

Educationally, blocks of classroom had been renovated at New Oko _ Oba Primary school as well as new buildings in the inclusive education unit. Adult Literacy Centers created at the Council premises and other existing ones to reenergize learning activities are still operational. JAMB and GCE forms were bought for hundreds of students as a continuous practice by this administration, the ICT Center had also been renovated, and equipped to provide Computer and Information Communication Technology Skills for our students, youths and members of staff, purchase of 30( thirty) laptops for youths that participated in a seven (7) day intensive skill acquisition program in graphics and web design.

Lastly to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal and alleviate yearnings of the people, various food items such as rice, yam, beans were evenly distributed to seven thousand (7000) households, provision of relief materials to victims of flood by distributing building materials like Cement, roofing sheets, planks of various sizes, nails, mattresses, Duvet to mention but a few in collaboration with Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The Leader of the House Hon. Tunde Oyekule appreciates and salutes the leadership style of Mr Chairman Hon. Hammed Tijani, that has made both the Legislatives and Executives work harmoniously and achieve great successes, also promises to ensure that the budget is well considered for greater records of achievements.
