OJOKORO COUNCIL DISTRIBUTES COVID-19 PREVENTIVE MATERIALS TO PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS

As pupils in public schools in Lagos State set for resumption for new academic session on Monday, 19th October, 2020, the Executive Chairman Ojokoro Local Council Development Area with the supervision of the vice chairman who also doubles as the supervisor for Education has taken a bold step towards preventing spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19) among the pupils.

To this end, the Council authorities on Friday, 16th October, 2020 distributed COVID-19 preventive materials to all public primary schools in the LCDA. Some of the items distributed to the schools includes bucket-tap for hand-washing, hand-washing liquid soap, hand sanitizers and infrared thermometer for temperature measurement.

These items were presented to Head Teachers of the various schools by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Sesan Sobande, who represented the council boss, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (H.I.D) at a very brief ceremony at the Council secretariat complex along Bola Tinubu Road, Ijaiye-Ojokoro.

In his address, Hon. Sobande commended the Lagos state Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his proactive approach in fighting the deadly Corona virus pandemic in the state.

He further stated that the Council has been doing everything possible to compliment the efforts of the Lagos state government in ensuring that the pandemic does not spread further in the state, particularly among school children.

The Vice Chairman, who is also the Supervisor for education in the Council, equally thanked all the Head Teachers for their commitment towards ensuring adequate protection for the pupils, whom he described as the future leaders of the state and Nigeria in general.

He therefore urged the Head Teachers to make judicious use and keep proper maintenance of the materials given to the schools for overall benefit of the pupils, assuring that the Council will continue to provide a healthy and conducive learning environment for all pupils in Ojokoro LCDA.

While responding on behalf of the schools, the Education Secretary for Ifako-ijaiye Local Government and Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Mr. Olamilekan Jongbo, applauded the Council Chairman and his team for always giving education a priority in the Council’s programmes.

He promised that all the items given to the schools would be use effectively when the pupils eventually resume to their various schools.

The Head of Department of Education and Library Services in the Council, Mrs. Whenayo Abimbola also thanked all the Head Teachers for their presence at the occasion and equally praised them for their dedication to their duties, which she said had been responsible for the development of education in Ojokoro LCDA.

All the ten public primary schools within Ojokoro LCDA, benefitted from the COVID-19 preventive materials distributed by the Council authorities.

It would be recalled that the Lagos state government has directed all pupils in public schools to resume for the next academic session on Monday, 19th October, 2020 after more than six months lockdown, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed several lives globally.
