COVID-19: OJOKORO COUNCIL BOSS DISTRIBUTES LASG STIMULUS PACKAGE TO VULNERABLE RESIDENTS.
By As the Federal and Lagos State governments’ stay at home order, to contain the spread of Corona Virus continues, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (H.I.D) has been going round to distribute relief food packages to vulnerable residents in the LCDA.
Hon. Tijani, who was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Jamiu Odebiyi and the Council’s Supervisor for Health, Hon. Nosiru Busari, was personally delivering the relief food packages to some residents of the LCDA at their homes on Tuesday, 7th April, 2020.
Some of the residents who received the relief food packages includes a 72 years old widow, Mrs. Mariam Sulaimon of Bioyin street; a 65 years old woman, Madam Idowu Amusa and a 68 years old retiree, Mr. Oluwatoyin Ajibola of Akinsola street, in Obadeyi area of the LCDA. The Council boss disclosed that he decided to personally delivered the relief food packages to some vulnerable residents in the LCDA at their doorsteps, on behalf of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, in order to ensure that it gets to the targeted set of people in the society.
He urged the beneficiaries to obey all the precautionary measures put in place by the Lagos State government, as a way of containing the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. Hon. Tijani further appealed to all residents of the LCDA to cooperate with government in fighting the Corona Virus pandemic by washing and sanitizing their hands regularly, keep social distancing and staying at home, as he assured that more relief packages would be provided by the government to cushion the effect of these precautionary measures.
One of the recipients of the relief food packages who spoke with our reporter, Mrs. Mariam Sulaimon commended both the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Ojokoro LCDA boss, Hon. Tijani for the bold steps being taken to fight the pandemic and also thanked them for providing relief packages, particularly to the vulnerable in the society. It would be recalled that a week ago, similar relief food packages that comprised semolina,wheat,noodles and spaggetti were distributed to some residents of Ojokoro LCDA by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani, through Community Development Associations
(CDAs); religious and traditional heads; ward Councillors and other groups, as government’s stay at home order enters the third week.
